Getting to Know the AFNTS Team

Kim MacKinnon is the Technology Integration Consultant (Elementary) with Atlantic First Nation Tech Services (MKs IT Dept). You will see her in our MK schools working with both teachers and students encouraging the use of technology in lessons and learning. Kim works exclusively with MK schools.

She has over 20 years of teaching experience, with a Master’s Degree in Education focusing on Mental Health. She spent the past 10 years teaching at Eskasoni Elementary Middle School and has taught in a range of grades, always using technology to assist in providing students with an up to date learning experience. Kim is a Google Certified Educator, Apple Teacher, Certified Apple Learning Coach, and SeeSaw Certified Educator. Some of Kim‘s responsibilities are providing professional development on technology related practices in education, coaching teachers in using technology in the classroom, and assisting with technology integrated lessons.

‍Outside of the office, Kim loves to craft and bake. She can be seen spending most of her down-time with her husband Sheldon and twins Clark and Marley.

Alex Dugandzic is the Systems Administrator with Atlantic First Nation Tech Services, the IT Department of Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey.  His primary role is to ensure network core services are operational and available to Atlantic First Nation schools and health centres.

Alex is an extremely motivated employee who previously worked with Maupeltuewey Kina’matno’kuom/Membertou as a Youth Coordinator since 2008..  His role was to ensure youth of Membertou had opportunities to pursue enriched traditional / technology modules and athletic based programming.
