Apple (IOS) devices:

The newest iPhone and iPad update (14.x) OS added the private wifi option by default for every WiFi network. This option is normally good for a roaming device connecting to multiple WiFi networks but with the staff network at the school, this will cause issues. We recommend disabling this before joining any MK/AFNTS network.

The setting is in the same place as on iPhone and iPad IOS. You need to go to Settings app, Wi-Fi, click on the “i” icon on the network you want to connect to, “ALUK-STAFF” and move the slider to the left for “Private Wi-Fi Address”. Once this has been set, you may get a privacy error but this can be ignored as this is a secure network. You can now enter your staff WiFi code and join the network.

Newer Android versions (Android 10.0+) have a feature called MAC address randomizer. We recommend disabling this before joining any MK/AFNTS network.. You can do this by going to the settings, Connections, WiFi (or short-cutting from the WiFi icon when you swipe down from the home screen). From here, you click the Settings wheel for the WiFi network you are connecting to, "View More", and under "MAC Address Type" make sure "Phone MAC" is selected, not "Randomized MAC". Randomized MAC seems to be enabled by default for any WiFi network you connect to and has to be changed manually for the “ALUK-STAFF” network. You may get a privacy error but this can be ignored as this is a secure network.
